From simple beginnings as a bookstore and restaurant, Poor Richard’s has evolved to become a downtown Colorado Springs landmark—a warm and friendly family of businesses under one roof that’s the only one of its kind in the country.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs, Poor Richard's has been a community staple for over 45 years. Originally a bookstore, they have expanded over the years and now, in addition to books, they sell unique children's toys and have adjacent wine bar (because kids) and restaurant, Rico's.

Not only are they a Colorado Springs landmark business, they are continually trying to make a positive impact in their community. With the installation of solar panels, Poor Richard's is able to run their business on solar energy preventing 74,968 pounds of CO2 from entering our Colorado skies in the first year of producing power. Not only are they utilizing sustainable energy practices, they literally clean up the world around them with "Richard's Rubbish Roundup"- a weekly event dedicated to cleaning up Colorado Springs and its waterways.

Looking at the history of Poor Richard's, it is easy to see why owner and founder, Richard Skorman, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the mayor of Colorado Springs- their evolution and commitment to community have left a lasting impact on Colorado Springs.

Plus, they made an appearance in 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'. So cool.
