Cannabis Legends: Martha Stewart
With all the exciting things going on in the world of cannabis these past few years it can sometimes feel like we’re living in a bit of a bizarroverse as we discover friends and allies in unexpected places. Martha Stewart has been a household name for clean and sane suburbia for the past fifty years. Imagine their surprise when this cooking and cookware icon announced she was going to be making a new line of products based on cannabis! If you ever thought that Martha Stewart was the most straight-laced person out there (aside from that prison term, of course) you’re in for a great surprise!
Canopy Growth and The Cooking Queen
Canada based hemp and cannabis company Canopy Growth has announced a joint partnership with the lifestyle guru’s Stewart’s Sequential Brands Group to produce a new line of consumer products made with cannabinoids, including CBD. This news is exciting for those of us who have been waiting for the herb we always knew made life just a little bit easier to go fully mainstream.
Canopy Growth knew that breaking into this market would require the kind of knowledge about consumer products that Martha’s years of experience would provide. The first line of products to hit the shelves is going to be targeting pets to bring many of the same benefits humans experience to the animals with whom we share our lives.
Not Her First Rodeo
For those who may not have been tracking Martha’s relationship with the cannabis industry, it may come as a surprise to learn that this isn’t her first foray into pot culture. For two seasons she teamed up with notorious ganja guru and rap sensation Snoop Dogg to produce “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” for a dizzying array of celebrity guests.
In her 77 years, Stewart has been an entrepreneur who has served as a lifestyle expert, TV host, and author. She has become such a household name that nearly 70 million American households contain products bearing her name. We can only imagine that this latest foray is going to push that number up a substantial degree.
Martha’s name is one that any brand would be excited to be associated with, and the CEO of Canopy Groth, Bruce Linton, reaffirms this fact. “I’m excited to be able to work alongside this icon.” he said during his announcement of the partnership, and said that Martha was sure “to sharpen our CBD product offerings across categories from human to animal.”
If you’re a fan of Martha’s products or anticipate becoming one after this upcoming partnership, keep your eyes open for their products to hit the shelves this year. While many of their products will only be available in Canada following their legalization of marijuana for recreational use last year, they will eventually be making their way to friendly American states in the future.
