Dime Bags products have become pretty popular, and a big reason for this is our bags’ smell-proof capabilities. We can’t lie – our Omerta bags are amazing even to us. We’ve designed every aspect of them with careful detail, too. From their logo to their interior to their name, we’ve crafted them all with great thought. So what does “Omerta” mean?

Meet Our Omerta Bags

Our Omerta protective Smell-Proof Pouch is a smoker’s greatest accessory. Not only does it feature dual lockable zippers, but this bag’s also 100% carbon lined – making it completely smell-proof. It’s made from nylon and recycled polyester, and its sleek solid black color allow it to blend into any situation or social setting.

Because of its durability, you’ll probably have it for so long that you notice its scent-blocking abilities starting to fade. Have no fear! Toss the bag into the dryer for 5-10 minutes to refresh the carbon liner. This thing can essentially last you forever.

Our protective Smell-Proof Pouch comes in four sizes: 5”, 7”, 8”, and 10”. All of them are roomy enough to fit whatever you’re smoking – from your favorite bowl to your favorite rig, one of our Omerta Pouches will be the perfect fit to keep your safe and secret. What does “Omerta” Mean?

I don’t mean to sound like a high school graduation speech, but the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “omerta” as a code of silence, and it’s an Italian noun. If you look further into its history, it’ll take you back all the way to the 1500s. Omerta translates from the Sicilian phrase, “u è surdu, orbu e taci, campa cent’anni ‘mpaci” (“He who is deaf, blind and silent will live a hundred years in peace”).

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean, making it an easy target for surrounding countries. Many actually tried to invade and conquer the Sicilian people so they could proper off the land. Locals were often enslaved by their invaders, and with that, the Mafia was born. In their time of need, the Mafia provided Sicilians with a sense of protection, pride, and stability.

Invasions continued, and the government seemed to be doing nothing. As a result, Sicilians left more of their trust in the Mafia than their own government – the Mafia then coined the golden rule of “omerta” – a code of conduct, loyalty, and silence.

Beginning in the 1890s in Italy, Sicilian Mafia members began initiating ceremonies with new members in which they were required to pledge loyalty to the mob, and the most important promise they made was of omerta. The Mafia understood this as a pledge to never go to government authorities to report a crime, and to never cooperate with authorities investigating anything.

What’s the Relationship?

Our Omerta line is the exact definition of the word – “code of silence.” With its 100% carbon lined, dual zipper, smell-proof features, you could bring this thing to Thanksgiving dinner and nobody in your family would say a word about your stash because nobody would even know about it. On a more detailed level, even the logo is a Mafia member in a suit and tie. There’s no need to worry about anybody “seeking justice” on your “crime” so long as you take the Omerta (Pouch) pledge.
